A few weeks ago I challenged some of my family to try and blog more often. From reading my previous post, I am obviously a huge offender - I don't think blogging every 6 months meets the "more often" requirement. So, here I go...
Last entry mentioned the preparations for our family reunion. It came and went in a flurry! It was so much fun to see everyone and catch up on life. I especially enjoyed seeing the younger kiddies playing together. Children have a way of cutting through the awkwardness of "just meeting" and they just get down to the business of having fun. I was asked a few times if everything went the way I had envisioned - the answer is "no". But that doesn't mean that it wasn't fun. Sometimes "the plan" gives way to spontaneity, which is even better. For example, who knew that a huge thunderstorm would blow in on the very day we had planned to be at the lake? There were a few brave souls who still went out on the water, and a few more wimpy souls (me included) who chose the safety of the pavilion. In the end, we ate then moved the party back to the resort and claimed a corner of the patio around the pool to visit while some swam. Except for the noise level, it was a great time to visit and the kids had fun. So, did it turn out like I expected...no. But still fun!
The months after the reunion are a blur. It took me a few weeks to even put the boxes away. In case anyone is interested, I think I still have about 700 crafts...anyone? Mom and I went to Utah for General Conference and were able to attend 2 sessions. We enjoyed visiting with Cathy and Rick, Amy and Brad and family, and Scott Wolff. I always enjoy the "goodbye serenade" from Scott..."Hey, Jude, don't make it bad...". Fortunately he can carry a tune!
December brought BS07! For the 3rd year in a row, I flew up to Calgary for our annual overnight to Banff Springs Hotel with Cathy, Lara, Erin and Melinda. We are hoping that next year we will be joined by Amy and Kerri. We really "shook it up" this year. We opted to have Italian food for dinner instead of paying for $90 vermin in the Five Star restaurant...we peeked at the menu and decided that we preferred cheaper fare. Thank heavens! We enjoyed our meal so much more since we actually knew what we were eating. We took a walk around the hotel after dinner, enjoying the decorations and mostly searching for another place to sit and talk. I have to admit, we are not party people. The enjoyment comes from the surroundings and the company, and the fact that 2 of the 5 did not have to deal with any children for a few hours. Our morning was filled with room service for breakfast and preparations for our really big adventure...a sleigh ride! It was fun, but may I say I haven't been that cold in a very long time! I just kept thinking about the pioneers and how they suffered. I'm so thankful for being warm.
Christmas has come and gone...I mostly mourned the fact that a year ago we were anticipating a trip to Hawaii. It is a wonderfully, sad memory. Wonderful for obvious reasons...sad because it's over and will likely never happen again.
And now tomorrow is Caitlin's wedding! It will be a long day for sure. I'm sure there will be pics. I'll try to take some, too. Maybe I'll even post them! What a novelty!
Ok, my goal is to blog at least once a week. How about you?

I wore black today in memory of our trip that will never happen again. BOO, HOO! Ok, and the whole blog a week, that is a lofty goal, indeed. I will try and match that.
Nice work Judy. I should also be able to manage a weekly blog. I definitely need to redecorate mine. Hope your Christmas was good. We are having fun.
